GFD Presents Kids at Caldwell with Jackets

On a cold, windy day in December members of our Garland Fire Department gathered in the gymnasium of Caldwell elementary School to present 130 qualifying students with new winter jackets. This was the second year the Garland Firefighters Association chose Caldwell  students to receive new jackets.

The firefighters not only provided the jackets, but made sure each boy and girl had the color jacket of their choice. They also made certain that each jacket fit properly as they zipped the kids into their new duds and marched them across the gym to pose for a picture with Santa.
The Garland Firefighters Association, led by its president David Riggs, has participated in the national Coats for Kids program for the past two years, funding the charity and donating their time to help kids in need.

Caldwell4The firefighters also conducted a Christmas Shopping Spree for about 100 kids earlier in the month of December. The community is extremely fortunate to be supported by the men and women who are members of our Garland Fire Department.
