Sales of commercial Real Estate in Downtown Garland

During the past several months there have been at least 7 real estate transactions in the Downtown Garland area. Beginning at Fifth Street and Main and going north, the following  changes in ownership have taken place:

1) 409 Main Street, (currently occupied by The Roach Feed & Seed) has been purchased by Robert Smith. The business will continue to operate as usual.

2) 507 and 509 N. State Street (the current location of Intrinsic) have been purchased by the owners and operators of Intrinsic Smokehouse & Brewery. The business will continue to operate as usual.

3) 518 N. Main Street, (formerly occupied by Baker’s Furniture*) has been purchased by Larry Hishmeh, owner and operator of The Main Street Deli. The business is expected to relocate and open at this address by November 1, 2016.

4) 524 N. Main Street, (currently occupied by Baker’s Furniture) has been purchased by Carlos Porras (owner of Dos Banderas). The business will continue to operate as usual.

5) 620 N. Main Street, has been purchased by Guillermo Torres, the owner operator of the Fish N’ Tails restaurant. The business will continue to operate as usual.

6) 915 Main Street, (formerly occupied by Wally’s Discount Golf) has been purchased by Ed Sedgwick and Trudy Jackson the owners and operators of Pickers Paradise. The business has recently opened.**

Additionally, The GRM has been told that the old power plant that has been vacant for decades, has been purchased by a local church that plans to restore the building for their ultimate relocation. Rumor has it that this will be a slow process but we are most curious as to what they will do with the tiny adjacent jailhouse.

*Baker’s Furniture originally occupied four Main Street storefronts and will continue to operate within the remaining three.

** Finders Keepers occupy a portion of the property and will continue to operate at the same location.
