On July 25 Jerry Nickerson, Councilman for District 3, held a town hall meeting at the South Branch Library. He brought the more than 80 citizens in attendance up to date on projects in the district, including work to be done and work in progress on the streets. Police Chief Jeff Bryan began his report with “ Garland has a healthy police department”. The department is fully staffed and is the envy of neighboring cities. He stressed that citizens should get to know their Neighborhood Patrol Officers. Our NPOs are named and their contact information is available on the new Garland website. Nickerson also reported on the status of the My Possibilities Development on the former Eastern Hills Country Club property. The team is currently working on details with City Hall and will be presenting their detailed plan to the City Council in the fourth quarter of 2019. They plan to begin working on the infrastructure for the project in the first quarter of 2020.
