Puritan Productions Presents Play About John Newton

Garland, Texas, October 19, 2018 — Puritan Productions presents the world premiere of “Amazing Grace: The Life of John Newton” at the Granville Arts Center on Nov. 3-4. This historical drama with ballet and chorus follows the life of John Newton, a slave trade ship captain who converted to Christianity, became a prominent slave trade abolitionist and the author of perhaps the most famous hymn of all time, “Amazing Grace.”
John Newton’s “Thoughts upon the African Slave Trade” aided William Wilberforce’s campaign to end the legality of slave trade in England.
Witness the true story of how a dynamic change in one man’s life aided in the abolition of horrible crimes against humanity.
