Preservation Garland Times
We had the best seats in town for the Heritage Celebration of Garland’s 125th Birthday and the Bankhead’s 100th. Those wonderful antique cars came right by us and a lot of friendly waiving and thumbs-up took place. Antiques, Vintage and Classics, what a great show of autos, reminds me of other Garland times – as in 1917.
We appreciate our great member volunteers, Margaret and Darrell Lancaster, Carol Armstrong, Bertha Wallace, Jessica Acosta, Pam Stoneham, Dave Hester, who gave of their time and talent Friday, 22nd and Saturday, 23rd, as they braved wind and sun to share the Preservation Garland story and hand out our printed information.
A Fund Report
A rather quiet launch into fund raising proved somewhat successful resulting in a Monday morning deposit of $161.46. If you have an interest and/or experience in or with fund raising and are willing to be part of this committee or assist in the Tinsley Lyles project, please call 972-240-0383
Margaret Lancaster and Cleo at the Tinsley/Lyles at the Garland 125th Birthday Celebration, just a little fund raising and information giving event.
Thanks to Darrell Lancaster for the photo.
Persons who stopped by to ask questions or
just visit, were very interested in the Tinsley/Lyles and while wanting to tour the house were not put off by its current status.
State Representative Angie Chen Button purposely came to greet us – with cupcakes in hand. We enjoyed a pleasant visit with Mayor Doug Athas and earlier in the day we had a nice visit with Councilman Scott LeMay.
