July is Park and Recreation Month
Nearly three in 10 U.S. adults do not spend time outside on a daily basis and of those who do, almost half spend less than 30 minutes in the fresh air, according to a survey released by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Thirty years later, parks and recreation activities are just as important to maintaining a high quality of life for the Garland community. Individuals, families, friends and coworkers can participate in indoor and outdoor recreation opportunities in Garland’s 63 parks, 29 miles of hike and bike trails, 6 recreation centers, 2 senior centers, 4 pools, and 75 athletic fields.
