Exploring  Firewheel Farmers Market

There were colorful tents, all lined up in a row shielding vendors from the blistering August sun. It was late on a Saturday afternoon, and we noticed only a few shoppers working their way down the line, going from tent to tent. As we explored the variety of goods being sold, we found  some very interesting food items, such as African meat pies and Keto gumbo. There were also fresh veggies and fruits, as well as handmade craft novelties and jewelry. In speaking with the various vendors we learned that there were fewer than usual vendors in the lineup, due to the uncomfortably hot weather.  Even so, it was an enjoyable interlude on a summer afternoon, and we wound up with some fresh fruit, meat pies and local honey.

Our exploration led to the discovery of one of a kind decorator items, gift items, and of course, the delicious prepared and fresh food variety. Though there were fewer than usual vendors due to extreme heat, there were just enough to provide us with a very pleasant tour of the dozen or so tents that were there, braving the summer sun. We’ll return to the Firewheel Farmers Market again, to search for treasures and treats.   All the vendors we dealt with were equipped to take credit and debit card payments.

The outdoor market, located behind Macy’s, is there every Saturday 9-5pm and Sunday 10-5pm from April to October. You can find them on facebook @ Garland Farmer’s Market at Firewheel
