Beaujolais Nouveau 2020
It happens every year on the third Thursday of November In the Beaujolais region of France. The gamay grape has been cultivated, harvested and fermented. On that day it will be uncorked with a great ceremony, including fireworks and other holiday festivities. It is a very young wine, fermented for only a few weeks. Distributors rush to get the Beaujolais Nouveau to wine shops around the globe. Everyone wants to be the first in their area to offer the new wine.
This year the third Thursday was November 19. We purchased our bottles from Goody Goody in Rowlett on Saturday, November 21. How did it get from Beaujalais to Rowlett in such a short 48 hour period? We don’t know, but we’re glad it did, because it’s a very light and versatile accompaniment for our Thanksgiving feast. Best served chilled.
