Illegal Drug Activity
“If calling the police does nothing to stop illegal drug sales, what will?” That was the question asked by Intrinsic Brew Pub owner, Carey Hodson who told us, “We don’t do drugs, we don’t have drugs, and we don’t want them sold outside our front door.”
On a recent Saturday night, there was an unmarked white box truck parked diagonally in front of the vacant Jones Hardware store on State St, in downtown Garland. What was the truck was doing there at 11 pm on a weekend?
A local businessman who had followed the truck previously, told us that it has a route. It leaves State Street and goes to the library, then on to the QT gas station and on to the Kroger parking lot at Walnut and Garland Rd. The police had been called several times, have responded and were unable to eliminate the suspected illegal drug activity being conducted by whoever was inside that big white box truck.
We followed the route and took photos of the license plate and the truck itself, and were later informed that the owner of the truck had been arrested before, but that apparently did not deter him from returning to serve the folks who wait for him and his suspected sales of methamphetamines.
This activity will not be tolerated in historic Downtown Garland, the heart of our city.
