Violinist Plays Folk Music at Garland Library’s Senior Social Hour
Professional violinist Lev Kardonsky brings folk music to the Nicholson Memorial Library System’s Senior Social Hour at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Central Library, 625 Austin St., in Downtown Garland.
Mr. Kardonsky discovered his passion for the violin at age six. He graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatory and has appeared with the City of Riga State Theater of Musical Comedy, the Latvian National Opera, and the Riga Ballet Theater. Since his arrival in the United States, Kardonsky has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony and the Fort Worth Opera. He was also nominated for a GRAMMY®. For this performance, Mr. Kardonsky will present popular Yiddish and European folk music, including “If I Were a Rich a Man,” from the musical Fiddler on the Roof.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Senior Social Hour programs are free and open to anyone 55 years of age and older. Donations of gently used books and media for the Friends of the Library book sale are accepted during the program. No registration is required to attend the event, but seats do fill up quickly. Doors open 30 minutes prior to performance.
