Plaza Broadway gets COG Approval
The long abandoned building at Centerville and Broadway, originally constructed as a K Mart, is now officially in the process of revival. Carlos Quintanilla, the new developer of the property, announced that he and his investor group have received all the necessary permits from the City of Garland to finish out a 140 store mega market.
During an open house event at Plaza Broadway on Sunday, December 6, Quintanilla led us on a tour of the 104,000 square foot building. With a new electrical system, ceiling fixtures and sprinkler system overhead and new flooring, the mammoth refurbishing project is off to a great start. Beyond the space under development there remains approximately 30,000 square feet available and Quintanilla hopes to attract a grocery chain or other major retailer to occupy that space.
At this time it looks like the dominant force in the food court will be a pizzeria, with cooks from Caprisi’s, according to Quintanilla. Future tenants are reserving their spaces and should be open for business on March 1, 2016.
