Rowlett is a Happening Place!
Those who attended the Chamber of Commerce luncheon today are brimming over with enthusiasm resulting from the presentation given by developers of the Village of Rowlett.
This project, covering 18 acres and costing approximately $30 million, is slated for completion in 19 months. The catalyst for this development was the opening of the DART station, which networks Rowlett into the DFW Metroplex. The Village of Rowlett has been designed to attract millennials who work in Dallas and can now commute to their places of employment.
Comprehensive studies have led to a design that incorporates a vintage look with walkability and charm, while remaining affordable for young families. Developers claim to be budgeting more than 3 times the usual amount spent on landscaping, which will include a community garden, dog park, yoga lawn, and ball courts.
The Bankhead Brewery is nearing completion and other commercial components along with the 225 residential units will be popping up over the coming year and a half.
The recently announced $1 billion Bayside project, which includes an 8 acre lagoon, luxury resort and other amenities, located at Dalrock and I 30, is a much larger project than the Village of Rowlett and its completion will take place 5 to 10 years out. This project will make North Texas a destination, with nothing comparable in the United States. The Bay View Marina and restaurants are now closed and only boat owners are being allowed on the premises while the marina prepares to move.
All that is happening while recovery from the December 26 tornado is underway.
