We began our tour in the lobby with its breakfast bar and coffee station. The yellow, purple and green accents and vaulted ceiling give the open space a bright, festive ambiance. A commissary is located next to the check-in desk, providing snacks and beverages for guests. A hallway lighted with colored tubing leads to the 2 meeting rooms, a conference room, guest rooms for the handicapped and at the end a door leading to the outdoor swimming pool and patio area. Located on the lakeshore, the hotel provides its guests with lovely views of Lake Ray Hubbard and we’re told sunrise is spectacular from the patio and guestrooms facing east.

The guest accommodations are considered suites, with a compact kitchenette area containing a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. There is also a sitting area and the VIP suite will feature a balcony overlooking the patio and lake. The brightly lighted hallways carry the purple and green color accents throughout the hotel. The décor far exceeds expectations for a Holiday Inn.

The Bass Pro mega-store is just a short walk across the parking lot, and 4 dining establishments offer a wide selection of food choices. The Islamorada Fish Company offers seafood, while Texas Land & Cattle is sure to please the palates of carnivores. Primo’s Tex-Mex has a diverse menu and full bar. The Flying Saucer is a beer drinkers’ paradise, with over 200 beers to choose from and a pub food menu.

To satisfy other food cravings there’s a Beef jerky Outlet and CiCi’s Pizza located just around the corner

. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites is located in Garland at Harbor Point, just off I-30. In addition to their overnight guest accommodations, there are meeting rooms and a conference room available for a fee. The smallest meeting room will accommodate up to 40 and the larger room will hold 70 guests comfortably. This new hotel offers another option for local groups and businesses looking for venues as they plan their meetings, seminars and other events.
