Garland library patrons may be interested to know that all library locations have reopened with limited capacities. The Central Library is currently open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Branch libraries are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All libraries are closed on Sundays. Due to COVID-19 some library services have changed. All locations are still offering curbside pickup for materials and in-person programing is suspended. These virtual events will consist of educational, informational, and entertainment programs for children, teens, and adults and include crafts, storytimes, basic skills workshops, and STEAM events.

The library also continues to offer online resources, such as HelpNow’s online tutoring, Mango Languages, Brain HQ, the Gale Virtual Reference Library, and Universal Class online courses, all available remotely at www.Library.GarlandTX.gov.

E-books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, and comics will also be available for check out through the library website or through the OverDrive and Libby apps.

Free, public Wi-Fi will be accessible both inside and outside of each location, and online library card registration will remain an option on the library website.

Unfortunately, the annual Friends of the Library Book Sale, usually held in September, has been cancelled. Those who still wish to support the Friends are encouraged to renew their Friends memberships as they expire and donate to the Friends through AmazonSmile. To get started with AmazonSmile, visit https://smile.amazon.com.
