Through January 20  GISD Faculty Art Show

Granville Arts Center – Gallery Space

TGAC_Event_Calander-3he Art Faculty of Garland ISD will exhibit their personal artworks in the Gallery at the Granville Arts Center December 10 through January 20.  This annual show

benefits the Kaye Swartz and Terri Smith Scholarship Fund for deserving senior art students in the Garland ISD.  The public is invited to donate with a tax deductible gift toward this scholarship fund through envelopes provided at the show.  This allows the art faculty to showcase their own artistic talents and the public is invited to vote on their favorite artwork as a ―People’s Choice.‖  Viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am – 4 pm and during all night and weekend performances.

January 17  26th Annual MLK Parade and March

10 am   Downtown Garland and the Granville Arts Center

Granville Arts Center FacilitiesThe National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Garland, Texas unit will host its 26th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade and march on January 17 beginning at 10 a.m.  The parade starts on Dairy Road @ Garden Drive near Embree Park and ends at the Granville Arts Center in Downtown Garland.  The celebration continues with an MLK Commemorative Program in the Granville Arts Center immediately following the parade.  Garland’s massive MLK Communitywide Youth Choir led by clinician Reuben Lael Griffin will perform.  This event is free and open to the public.  For more info call 972-381-5044 or visit GarlandTxNAACP.org.


January 18  2015 MLK Youth Extravaganza

4 pm   Granville Arts Center – Brownlee Auditorium

GAC_Event_Calander-7Youth groups from area churches and the Garland ISD will showcase their spiritual talents in praise dance and athletic talents in step routines on Sunday afternoon in the Brownlee Auditorium of the Granville Arts Center beginning at 4:00 P.M.  Admission is free and the MLK Youth Extravaganza is open to the public. Granville Arts Center Facilities―The Bad Seed,‖ a play adapted by Maxwell Anderson from the novel ―The Bad Seed‖ by William March, is terrifyingly good.  Its theme is worked out powerfully and every character is convincing.  Performances are in the Small Theatre of the Granville Arts Center. Granville Arts Center FacilitiesJoin Artists Round Texas for their membership show in the Gallery Space of the Granville Arts Center.  The exhibit will feature a variety of media, including photography, which makes this show a must see for an overview of different creative visions. Artists Round Texas have a variety of talented artists in their art organization. From small, detailed pen and ink, to large multi-media paintings using oils and/or acrylics, along with accomplished sculptors and ceramic artists, the club has a variety of art to display. January 25 Dramapalooza 2 pm Granville Arts Center – Brownlee Auditorium 

Granville Arts Center FacilitiesDramapalooza is a theatre program created for Special Needs Adults sponsored by Garland Parks and Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation Department, Holford Recreation Center & the Granville Arts Center in Garland, Texas. Directed by Lory Alison Stewart, drama classes started in 1998 and the musicals began in 2003. 15-20 adults with physical and mental challenges have performed ten musicals over the years. And now we present our 11th Anniversary Musical: Shane and Nick’s Excellent 90’s Adventure. Nicholas and

Shane have been in these musicals since the very beginning in 2003 and now

they are going on an adventure back in time, just like Bill and Ted. Join them as they travel through the 1990’s and meet singers and celebrities! Enjoy all of your favorite songs from the 1990’s! Dramatized by director Lory Alison Stewart to highlight the talent of each individual performer, Excellent 90’s Adventure promises to be fun for the entire family! The performance takes place Sunday, January 25, 2014 at 2pm at the Granville Arts Center Brownlee Auditorium in Garland, Texas.  Admission is FREE and the musical is only 20-30 minutes in length. Appropriate for ALL AGES!!! Join Shane, Nicholas and all the crazy characters ON STAGE after the performance and meet these talented actors!
