Rowlett is Rocking!

lakeThings are changing since the City of Rowlett purchased Robertson Park from the City of Dallas. Since that change of ownership the name of the park has been changed to Bayside Park.

The park has been cleaned, fencing installed and the gate leading to the marina has been padlocked.   The man stationed at the gate told us the restaurant is no longer in business and the only individuals permitted to enter the marina area are boat owners.  The marina is still owned by the City of Dallas and the marina is being leased by the operator of the boat docking business. The COR is planning to develop the property with a hotel and other mixed use facilities. The future of the marina will no doubt be impacted by the new developers.

The vast new development, The Village of Rowlett, along Main Street and adjacent to the new DART station is now underway. The Rowlett Chamber of Commerce, formerly located in a historic church building, is now operating from a temporary space in the Rowlett Fire Department Administration Building.  At the end of July they hope to be back in their building, which will have been moved to 4418 Main Street, across from the Baptist Church. The library is now operating at 5702 Rowlett road, and all summer programs are being offered as scheduled.

A new Sprouts grocery store has been approved by the City Council and will be located next to Walgreens at 2701 Lakeview Parkway, at the intersection of Rowlett road.

Rock on Rowlett!!!
