Coffee with Culture: Generator Hosts Local Artists

Kendra Walden, Financial Advisor
The Generator CoffeeOn the evening of September 11, the Generator Coffee House in downtown Garland celebrated opening night. The place was teeming with artists and the coffee house regulars, all enjoying the mellow harp music which continued throughout the evening. The art hanging on the walls was provided by Faith Artists, a group of talented folks who create their artwork with a message in mind. There are 18 pieces on display, created by 7 artists. There’s a note from the artist posted beneath each piece, telling of his or her inspiration, enabling the viewer to share in their vision.

The Faith Artists exhibit will be on display until October 25, when another exhibit will replace it. Generator’s manager Lindsey Williams has booked several exhibits to follow and expects to be displaying original works of art on an ongoing basis. The art hangs from an art track and is suspended on the brick walls by a wire that is noticeable to the casual observer. Most of the artwork being displayed is for sale, though a few pieces in this current exhibit are marked NFS (not for sale). In any case, the art is there to be enjoyed by everyone at no charge whatsoever.

Next time you stop into the Generator, you’ll be able to enjoy a little culture with your coffee!
