Garland Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 2016-2017 Season

It’s a symphonic safari not to be missed!
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Praised for her “astounding vocal expressivity” and “soaring full voice”, American soprano Christina Pecce is a singing-actress who crosses over the genres of opera, musical theatre, jazz, and performance art. She currently serves as a Hattie Mae Lesley Apprentice Artist for the Fort Worth Opera’s 2016-2017 season and will be performing the roles of Frasquita in Carmen and Mother’s Ghost in the world premiere of Voir Dire by composer Matthew Peterson.

Her upcoming engagements include a return to Fort Worth Opera, where she will perform Mercédès (Carmen) and will appear in concerts across North Texas.   Highlights of the 2015/16 season included debuts with Performance Santa Fe, the Fort Worth Opera, and Central City Opera. Additionally, Ms. Laurenzo was a District Encouragement Award winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and competed as a 2016 semi-finalist in the Opera Birmingham Competition.
Garland Symphony credits its Music Director, Robert Carter Austin, for its continued outstanding and diverse orchestral programming.    Maestro Austin’s background encompasses over 30 years of professional music experience and includes degrees from MIT, Cambridge University, and Stanford University.  Maestro Austin’s musical experience includes conducting performances in countries including: Korea, Ukraine, Canada, Italy, Spain, China, France, Germany, Mexico, Bulgaria, Ecuador, Colombia, Philippines, Guatemala, Dominican Republic and the United States.
