Graduation Day for Garland Pre-K
On the morning of May 20, approximately 1,100 Pre-K students ages 4 and 5, filled the floor of the arena at the Curtis Culwell Center. In white caps and gowns, the youngsters, led by their teachers, filed into their seats in amazingly orderly fashion. They performed a song entitled, “We Are going to Kindergarten,” which they sang out with gusto. Each teacher was introduced, and she in turn read the names of her students as they paraded across the stage.
GISD offers Pre-K classes for children who are learning English as a second language, or qualify by meeting a certain family income level. The stands were filled with proud parents and grandparents who applauded appreciatively as each name was read. Hopefully, this was just one of several graduation ceremonies these students will experience.
