Through the Dallas County Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program, qualified applicants can receive free air conditioning units. Call 214-819-1848.
Garland Customer Service and Garland Power & Light are donating box fans to Friendship House, 620 W. Avenue B, for distribution. Call 972-272-1010.
The Senior Source’s Beat the Heat campaign provides air conditioning units to elderly residents in need. Call 214-525-6191.
Salvation Army locations in Garland and throughout North Texas have partnered with Reliant to distribute fans. In addition, the Garland location is available as a cooling station: 451 W. Avenue D, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. This station is open when the outside temperature is 95 degrees or higher or when the heat index is 100 degrees or higher.
