Spring Things In Garland

In South Garland , Cotton’s Produce stand is now open for the 31st consecutive year, treating local residents with fresh veggies, fruits, nuts, and a variety of specialty food items, including Watkins products. They will be offering herbs and flowering plants through Mother’s Day. Their geraniums will last up until the first frost and are our annual  best plant buy.

We dropped into Phong’s Plants and Home Decor, located in the former Monday’s Plant Nursery property, which includes about 4 acres fronting on Broadway, between Rosehill and Wynn Joyce. We were hoping to find bedding plants, but were told we were two weeks too early. We did, however, see a stunning bright flowering purple umbrella in a large ceramic pot, about 30 inches across. It was a topiary bougainvillea.  The vines were wrapped to form a trunk, the likes of which we had never seen. However, we were still shocked when Mr. Phong told us that the price was $3,000! The price was just as stunning as the gorgeous plant!
